Bliss PermaSoft® Plus Cleans Easy, Feels Luxuriously Soft

permasoft-sd-nylon-carpetWhen customers come looking for a carpet that’s durable and cleans easy, but still has that luxurious, deep softness, we often recommend Bliss carpeting with solution-dyed PermaSoft® Plus technology.

Nylon carpets are known to hold up over time, and the warranty on this carpet is one of the most comprehensive in the industry. When compared to carpets that are not solution-dyed, Bliss PermaSoft® carpet is more cleanable and fades less. That’s because the solution-dying process colors the fiber to its core. As the years go by, your carpet will stay remarkably close to its original shade, no matter how much wear and cleaning you put it through.

We’d like to see you down at our showroom to really feel and appreciate the softness you can get from such a durable, long-lasting carpet that holds up to kids, pets, and almost anything you throw at it.

Hope to See You at the Dutchess County Fair

Antique Hardwood in the Hudson Valley

The Hudson Valley is known for its rich history, and its architecture is a crucial part of that. Antique wood is seeing a resurgence of popularity, and there are countless structures throughout the area that are being harvested for their unique antique woods.

Most of the older homes in the Hudson Valley were built with materials sourced from our local forests. This means you’re able to find a variety of woods with unique looks and character, with a diversity you’d be hard-pressed to find elsewhere. Some of the woods native to the area include:

  • Hemlock
  • Pine
  • Chestnut oak
  • Black Birch
  • Hickory
  • Sycamore
  • White spruce
  • And others

While some of these wood types are commonly used in modern flooring materials, they don’t have the same rich, authentic appearance. New woods look “new” — they lack the warmth and weathered texture that you’ll find with antique woods. Whether you want a rustic, wide-planked floor for your kitchen, or something highly textured with a warm patina for your living room, antique woods are the way to go.

Northern Dutchess Hardwoods are the antique wood experts of the Hudson Valley. We can get almost any kind of antique wood imaginable, sourced not just from the Hudson Valley, but all over the world. Have something specific in mind? Head over to our showroom — we’re happy to help!

Anso Nylon Keeps Allergens at Bay

It is a common misconception that carpet can adversely impact allergy and asthma sufferers. Shaw Floors set out to debunk this myth by conducting the industry’s biggest performance test on their Anso Nylon carpet in one of the busiest places on Earth–Grand Central Terminal. The results showed that effectively cleaned carpet can actually reduce the number of airborne allergens, as dirt, dust, and debris get trapped by the carpet fibers (so people aren’t breathing them in) and are easily vacuumed away.

Anso Nylon carpets are stylish, available in a number of designs and colorways, and are treated with R2X, a stain and soil repellent that will keep your floors looking great well into the future.

If you’re looking for durable flooring that can help to improve the health of your home, Anso Nylon is the way to go. Visit our showroom and check it out for yourself today.

Need Pet-Resistant Flooring? Try Luxury Vinyl!

We constantly have people asking us if luxury vinyl flooring will hold up to the abuse of their pets. The answer is: Yes!

Luxury vinyl flooring consists of four layers: a vinyl backing, a vinyl color layer, a design layer, and a protective layer. In addition, vinyl flooring has a simple no-wax vinyl coating and a urethane finish. Many vinyl flooring options also come with an enhanced coating to improve scratch-resistance. This means that your flooring can stand up to scratching, messes, and more.

Vinyl is generally durable, affordable, and easy to clean, making it the perfect choice for you and your pets. With options that mimic the look of wood or stone, luxury vinyl affords you an infinite number of design options, to boot!

If you’re looking for a flooring type that can hold up to the wear and tear of pets and humans alike, luxury vinyl is the way to go. Stop into our showroom–we’ll send you home with a sample that your furry friends can use for a test run!

Light Finishes and Wide Planks On Trend for Hardwood Flooring

With the economy in an upturn, many people are taking the time to renovate, and that means new flooring. Some of the hottest flooring trends right now are light tones and wide planks, which can help a room to appear larger. Whether you are looking for natural wood or an engineered product, we’ve got something to suit your needs.

Lighten Up

There are a number of light finishes and wood types available, so you can be sure that your flooring compliments your home decor perfectly. Some of the available wood options include:

  • Hickory
  • Ash
  • Natural Walnut
  • Oak

Popular finishes that highlight the wood’s grain include:

  • Matte
  • Penetrating oils
  • UV finishes

In addition, many homeowners are opting for a distressed look, which can conceal scratches and nicks more effectively than traditional flooring.

Go Wide

Traditional floors consist of planks between 2 ½ and 3 inches wide. The new trend has homeowners gravitating toward planks that are 6 inches wide or more. This allows both natural and engineered hardwood products to move less and have greater stability.

From repurposed wood to more traditional products, we’ve got you covered. Come visit our showroom–we’ll gladly show you a variety of these flooring styles from companies like Armstrong and BuildDirect and answer any questions that you may have.
